There are probably books on this subject with more contemporary settings given our current political climate, but my favorite is still Paper Wife by Laila Ibrahim. It is a historical fiction novel that deals with this exact topic, but it is set in 1923. The protagonist is a Chinese woman named Mei Ling who is promised to a widower in California by her parents in order to secure her future. Mei Ling has to pretend to be the first wife of the widower in order to be able to enter the country. She has to endure a perilous journey to San Francisco and even takes a young orphaned girl under her wing. I don't want to spoil too much, but when she eventually reaches America she discovers further shocking revelations that turns her world upside down. Paper Wife is a very emotional book and while it might not deal with immigration in a way that modern readers interpret it, it is still a good read.
