I pocketed the slip of paper.

"One moment, sir," I said, as I realized that it was a pink bald head, and not a red face, which was fronting me. "I am not very clear yet why I am to interview this gentleman. What has he done?"

A nice lost world style adventure. generally a fun read but its been done so many times since it loses impact. I would have liked a female character to be on the adventure.
Personally, I prefer the Professor Challenger stories.

Just like 99% of the Earth's population, I thought all Sir A. C. Doyle has written are mystery novels, especially that of Sherlock Holmes short stories and novels. Picking this up in the library, I was pleasently surprised by this story.

It's a story of a band of adventurers going to an undsicovered part of the Amazon where dinosaurs still exist. It has moments of trial and tribulation, high adventure, and pure child-like wonder.

This book is a great adventure novel, more geared towards a younger audience, but adults will enjoy this nonetheless.
Great book!!! I have never seen or heard of the the TV series, but I am sure that it can't compare to this story. This is the first book of Sir Arther Conan Doyle's that I have read and it just became one of my favorite books. This book is as much fun or even more fun than any of Michael Crichton's Jurasic Park books. Download and read it. You won't regret it.
The Lost World is a good book for fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work, with a decent plot, good characters, and sufficient details to keep the reader amused. Many people who have seen the TV series are sometimes disappointed with the book, however the series was definitely based on it. I found the constant fighting between the two professors to be annoying, however some may find it amusing. A good book, but it could have been better.
