Portraying the simple life of the quaint "Down East" characters. Calvin Parks is an interesting character who has bought out the candy route. His faithful old horse takes him from village to village, where he dispenses of his wares and gossips by the way.

"Did it?" repeated Calvin. "Yes, it did! Neither one of 'em could stand against their Ma. Folks thought the boys would marry, and that would break it up like, but Ma wouldn't have that.
