Based during the French Revolution, the story is of a common man who loves a woman of aristocracy and the romance that gradually develops as he shows himself more noble than those of her class. It was an entertaining book and worth reading. I was left wanting in that they didn’t share their love for each other till the last paragraph which ended too abruptly for me, but that ending is common in romances written in this period.
