The Pursuit of God
The Pursuit of God
Here is a masterly study of the inner life by a heart thirsting after God, eager to grasp at least the outskirts of His ways, the abyss of His love for sinners, and the height of His unapproachable majesty—and it was written by a busy pastor in Chicago!

satisfy the longing of the heart. The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship, and that servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all.
If we would find God amid all the religious externals we must first determine to find Him, and then proceed in the way of simplicity. Now as always God discovers Himself to "babes" and hides Himself in thick darkness from the wise and the prudent. We must simplify our approach to Him. My pastor got me very interested in Tozer by using his (Tozer's) writings for our churche's corporate confessions. When I started reading about Tozer, I was filled with bursting emotions of long ago that were rarely repeated in my life. This!! is the answer to my mild prayers, this!! is what I need. If you know God a little (none of us know Him a lot), I think you will quickly recognize that this man (Tozer) knew Him!)

The Pursuit of God came out of 25 years of experience. this book was literally written on his knees.
Although Tozer was a great theologian, a great pastor and teacher one cannot stop there. Here was a man ablaze for God and who also saw the church failing to fulfill her call. One cannot read his works and sit remaining in their 'comfortable zones' if they truly desire God.
I warmly recommend this title being the best of all of his works.

Excellent! Tozer is not only a good theologian, he's a good writer as well. The introductory note in the book describes it well:
"Here is a masterly study of the inner life by a heart thirsting after God."
This book gave me some great insights for developing my spiritual life. I wish you had more of this author's books available on this website.
