A creature from another planet arrives on Earth with the mission of discovering whether it would be worth conquering as a new world for his people. He inhabits the minds of a cat, and various people.

An interesting look at the relative values of mind and body.
A mind inhabiting alien from a world of evolved telepaths is on a journey to find an alternate civilization to inhabit and control the individuals. See, the aliens have developed time travel and found they were extinct in the future, because they died of boredom. A new species to experience and control may change their dismal outcome.
Inhabiting the creatures of earth is a revelation. It makes the reader appreciate how good we have it here. But the minds of earth dwellers can't be easily controlled unless they are insane....Is this a good or bad place for the alien species? It takes a bit of psychoanalysis to find out. Good story.
