Loren’s book reviews

The story started out confusing, but cleared up after few chapters and turned out a good story.

This was an excellent story and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of her works. I don’t recall how I learned of this book, but am a big fan of Rafael Sabatini which writes romance fiction set in the same period

A story of a cat losing it’s 9 lives. Not one of the author's better works. Only mildly entertaining and the joke at the end was mediocre at best.

A swashbuckling romance typical to the other author’s books. The storyline and adventure was good but although the son was rude, you would have expected more maternal feelings toward him, so the ending wasn’t as heartwarming as I would have preferred.

A tall tale about leprechaun-like people. It’s short and easy read, slightly creative, and attempts to be humorous. For me the story and humor was uninspiring.

A creative story about a lover's leap location unlike any you’ve heard of before. Worth reading.

Interesting and creative fiction about a WWI attack by the Germans on New York City. (It was actually published 1918, not 1908 as stated on the site)

A story about a problem child who got whipped for telling a lie which he did not tell. He did deserve the punishment though. I didn’t find the story entertaining or worthwhile and I’m not sure why it's still here a hundred years after being written.

A fun and easy to read story of an enterprising young man who tried to break from his planet’s philosophy of pirating and become a great electrician and do wonderful things for the worlds. Unfortunately the philosophy of the planet he moved to made him a criminal for his electrician genius. Circumstances moved him to become a pirate and he ended up doing wonderful things for the worlds.

The story is short, fun, and easy to read. I personally didn’t see the twist ending coming, so found it clever.
