Adultery has ruined many lives. Whether it it was 17th century or 21st century there is nothing to glorify adultery. There is nothing prejudical if you condemn wayward behaviour that brings ruin to happy homes. This book is a lesson against wrong behaviour.

Hawthorne is an excellent writer. His short story collection is a surprise to me. Good and interesting stories depicting the 17th century life. Highly recommended for reading during travels.

It was sad to read the comments of people for whom this book is not intended. Computer geeks, game addicts, drug addicts and people with no aim in life will not understand this book. The book had been, over decades, making young people in to honest and self reliant citizens. A must read for young boys and girls. Encourage your children to read it.

Charles Dickens was a great author - on of the finest last century has produced. It needs a lot of thinking and empathy to understand his books. This book is an example of his thoughts of life of ordinary people. Those below who hurled expletives on him are ignorant people lacking finesse. there is a saying 'Donkeys know not the fragrane of a rose'

Too archaic and out of time. The author eulogizes slavery and killing of animals for sport. Ecologists and animal lovers will squirm reading some anecdotes describing cold blooded killing of elephants just for pleasure. I do not recommend this book which is to be preserved in a museum rather than reading.
