I have spoken to a few people at work who watch the show and they were all expecting this epic showdown between gods involving all kinds of lord of the rings style imaginary, when in actual fact nothing could be further from the truth as anyone who has actually read the book will know. The pace of the book can be painfully slow at times, but the television show got a little too fond of just flinging around blood and making loud noises imo. The scene with Bilquis is a good example of including something shocking just for the sake of shocking audiences. Personally for me the first season was a huge downer because I'm such a big fan of the book and only time will tell whether season two will improve, but I'm willing to bet it won’t.

02/14/2019
