I have worked with a lot of troubled teens who managed to turn their lives around after they have read self-help books. Sure, these books were not the primary reason for the changes in their life, but they did make a big difference and were definitely not written by charlatans. You advise people to rather read books about "true accounts," but do you not know that many self-help books are written by people who endured something challenging themselves and want to share with others how they triumphed over their situation? Let me give you some examples to show that I'm not just sucking all of this out of my thumb. Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl is a good example of a self-help book that has helped millions of people to cope and one can hardly accuse him of not enduring a "challenging"situation. Another good book that I often recommend to people is There is Nothing Wrong with You by Cheri Huber. It's all about self-hate and what a big impact it can have on our lives.

11/12/2019
