A year or two ago I discovered this site and with it the treasure trove of classic books that I could read on my tablet. I challenged myself to start reading all of the most "famous" classics and discovered two things. Firstly, a lot of the classic books are not as long as I expected and I managed to get through my reading list very quickly. Secondly, most of the books that I thought I knew because I already watched the television show, movie, musical or whatever, actually turned out to be very different. I thought it was only ancient fairy tales that has become distorted and watered down over the years, but apparently it can happen to fairly "recent" classical books as well. The one you mentioned here, Frankenstein, is an excellent example of how Hollywood can distort something so much that people are oblivious to the original. I imagine that Mary Shelly must be spinning in her grave due to how poorly her Creature has been represented!

12/09/2018
