I don't know how many people are aware of this, but his son Bruce was actually a gay-rights activist, which obviously didn't please Frank at all. I'm more interested in seeing how the upcoming movie is going to treat the characters and whether or not it will offer a more diverse representation of the Dune universe than what the book was able to accomplish. For good science fiction with more diversity check out Ascension by Jacqueline Koyanagi. It is about a woman who sneaks on to a ship that is piloted by another woman and ends up falling in love with both of them. There are also other characters in the story who are polyamorous as well as bisexual. For something even more out there (but still very good of course) read the book by Becky Chambers called "the long way to a small angry planet." I'm not familiar with Terry Goodkind, but I have heard some rumblings in the LGBTQ community that his books are problematic, so maybe do some research about that first.

07/08/2020
