Boopie’s book reviews

A well-written and engaging historical account of 13th century France. Follow a dispossessed troubador and knight as he falls in love with the wife of an evil nobleman and follows King Louis on his quixotic crusade to Egypt. Heretics are burned at the stake, Saracens attack unmercifully and the Knights Templar are always lurking in the background.

A real page-turner. Aristocracy dying in locked rooms, dreams of ancient witch-queens, tracking vampires to cellars in old Cairo, being chased by an army of tarantulas, crawling on hands and knees through ancient pyramids - what more could you ask for?

An entertaining read. Although it is an espionage story - it really is fairly lighthearted (have you ever heard a spy described as a "bounder"?).

An excellent read. If it were written in 1960 it would have been an episode on The Twilght Zone.
