Dick Thornton’s book reviews

Not for me. I found it dull and tedious with a lot of multi-page dialog that said essentially nothing. Only made it about 20% through.

I found this a very humorous book about college life. Although it took place long ago, the author describes his characters and scenes very well, and gives you a variety of amusing tales.

A delightful little tale that will specially appeal to anyone who feels alienated from his//her culture.

This is a wonderful story written by a master scifi author.

I found this book to be very flowery and wordy. Probably an excellent work from a bygone era, but not my cup of tea.

This is a humorous story told in mild dialect. I enjoyed it.

Mr. Leiber is one of my favorite SF writers of old, so it is painful to have to say this is not a very good story, in my opinion. It started out pretty well, but the dialog and repetition began to bore me so that I had almost given up by the halfway point. But about there, it got a bit more interesting for a little while, so I continued, but it went downhill to a lackluster ending.

I only made 15 pages of this one. Being Christian myself, and not appreciating bad language replacing dialogue and plot, I took it as long as I could. Don;t recommend it, myself.
