I received this as a Member of the Children's Weekly Readers Club. Of all of the dozens of books I read then, I have remembered this one the longest. After Childhood, Life got dangerous and complicated, and eventually I got a tattoo of the Phoenix on the cover, of course, it's still there.
This is an amazing book. I'm not surprised to see it has developed a Cult following, it has layers.
