I did not at all like. The author was determined to make every single thing in the novel a tragedy. She kills almost every character present in starting. And, there is no love or love story. Very rough and cruel. And most importantly tough of literature is not there.
Absolutely classic. Although tragedy, but this book is absolute classic. It is not about adultery (as people think it is), rather it is about aspirations and desires of Madame Bovary. She is commits adultery not because she is characterless (she did not sleep for money in the end), but rather she thought it would fulfil her aspirations.
Read some translation which is close to original (like wordsworth editions) because Flaubert plays with words.
I did not like this book .... it had no emotions ...... it was very technical ... like some maths book ..... plot was also not interesting ... sorry utterly boring ..... fails to arose imagination or feelings
A good read .... full of true circumstances .... and although plot develops slowly but still it was great ........ not as good as pride and prejudice .... but still a great read
Well, I love classics ... but this one was utterly boring ..... the starting was good ... but then it became utterly mechanical ..... it lacked emotions ...... sorry but I did not like it
This is a book which would clearly strike at your conscience. It is a book for those people who want to think about society, its rituals, human emotions, and conscience.
The language is so beautiful, and story is also up to the mark.
It is similar to "Crime and Punishment" in its conclusions, but in my view it is even better.
If you don't mind to stress your mind a little bit to think, then it is a standard recommendation.
Well, frankly speaking I did not like it .... it is a story of a dog ..... start was good, but then it became too much boring or too much dramatic ...... I don't have a problem with the theme ....... but story seemed to be in too much six and sevens ..... but it could have been an excellent story.
This is good book, although the story moves slowly, if you are a classic's fan you would like it ....... it is shown that how the burden of a sin creates problems for a person ...... language style is purely classic, too beautiful ..... and it is an ancestor to "Crime and Punishment" by Fydoor. D., ..... although I like The Scarlet letter more.
