Carl Heerwagen’s book reviews

This is a good classic Sci-Fi book. I would highly recommend this. Definitely old school pulp.

A classic of the finding a lost civilization genre. I found this novel very interesting. Unfortunately I haven't seen the old movies that were made from this book. It wasn't terrific but it did held my attention.

I found this book mildly interesting but the science in it is absurd. I know they didn't know much but I've seen better books during the period in when it was written. It was written by a person who was involved with the opera.

The classic fall asleep and wake up in a different place type of tale. Unfortunately doesn't give enough explanation of why the world is that way. Not enough history of what the world was before it became that way.

A very good story in the Burroughs vein of stories. Good science fiction for its time.

Never mind the fanciful movies. This is a story of the dangers of drug abuse. I've seen similar reactions in my friends who use hard drugs. an early warning back in the 1800s.

ZZZZZZZ. A very boring book with no remarkable action either emotional or physical. It reminds me of a very boring American going through Europe movie from the 60s.

Very interesting book but too short for my tastes. The cartoons leave much to be desired and the book has more detail on the character and his interactions with the people of Sleepy Hollow. The language for the period is hard to read.

This book was a blow by blow book of adventure. I really liked it. It is a great book. No movie does it justice. I recommend it to anyone

This book shows the cruelty of man especially to the handicapped. I feel sorry for Prince Mushkin. He didn't deserve any of the things that happened to him. And all the others expecting him to know everything in etiquette when he's been in Switzerland all his life in a hospital? I suggest that people need to read this book and look in their heart to see if they identify with all the people that dealt with Prince Mushkin. I'm pretty sure they will.
