I am not a true crime reader but I must admit I enjoyed this book. How we look at criminals has sure changed since then though. No extenuating circumstances whatsoever.

This is a very interesting book, if, like myself, you know nothing about the Australian gold rush, nor how difficult it was to cross the Australian interior. The only negative about this book is how prejudiced they all were against the Aborigines; they would capture one to show them where the water holes were, for example. But that said, it really is an exciting read.

A very good read. The author was young enough to have a strong sense of adventure, yet did not glorify the trench warfare at all.

On Prayer and The Contemplative Life

This is a book of excerpts from his Summa Theologica. I think it makes a nice introduction to the Summa, as it covers some of his more accessible writing. I can recommend this highly.

There are nearly 50 pages of notes on the book before you get to his sayings, and I found that burdensome. However once you get to his actual work this book is excellent. I have a version at home without all the notes and frankly the notes detract from this version.

Father, Son, Ghost of the Holy

I rather enjoyed this book, though it was difficult at spots. They are both very intelligent and have respect for each other, which is refreshing. There is no winner, no loser. But I have to hand it to them for being willing to dialogue with each other in this way.
