Four short stories by Joseph Conrad. Nothing profound like Heart of Darkness or Lord Jim, but well-written (almost over-written by modern tastes) and engaging. The first is about love lost--twice, maybe three times. The Partner is set in English seas (strange for Conrad,) and deals with honest and dishonest men. The third, a kind of ghost story set in Spain, and the last a tale of a good man and some very bad ones in the Far East.
When you get tired of misspelled, trite, poorly plotted and edited writing, give these stories a try. Conrad knew how to write.
