This explains why it is all so new."
The old Spanish sorcerer to whom Mlle. de Tartas had left her personal property had done his work thoroughly. The house was absolutely empty, even the wardrobes and bookcases built in had been carried away; we went through room after room, finding all absolutely dismantled, only the windows and doors with their casings, the parquet floors, and the florid Renaissance mantels remaining.
"I feel better," remarked Fargeau. "The house may be haunted, but it don't look it, certainly; it is the most respectable place imaginable."
"Just you wait," replied Eugene

THE WHITE VILLA
o Two men miss the train from a small Italian town.
o They need food and anywher to stay for the night.
o Well, maybe anywhere is not exactly what they really want.
o Perhaps a room without a ghost is really what you wanted.
SISTER MADDELENA
o Two men stay in a small town.
o Will you or your friend be the first to see the ghostly Nun.
o Will you be the one to help her to her rest.
NOTRE DAME DES EAUX
o Is it the ghost of a mad man that appears to you, or he himself.
THE DEAD VALLEY
o Is the bad valley real or a dream?
o Would setting out to confirm it, be a mistake?
