Plot bullets

A note is found on the sidewalk. It is a plea for help from a girl who is being held against her will.
It is not easy to determine from which house the note might have come. For all practical purposes, the girl and the house are lost to anyone wanting to give aid.
The police perform a standard investigation, but find that none of the particulars in the note, can be verified..
A young newspaperman, however, sees in it, a chance for adventure and hopefully a good story.
Now the task is to find, from where the note came, and is it for real or a hoax.
A long, inventive search is ahead for the young reporter and possibly danger.
What does fate hold for him in The Lost House.
