Not as universal as Shakespeare, Cyrano is still a good play. The scope of human depth, although I can not be as deep as Bard's, it is still an interesting work, good but not masterpiece.
The story isn't almost completely fictional.

Most of it is true.

Some of it is fictional.

That's really the way he died... Though people still aren't sure if it was a murder or an accident.
Actually, there really was a Cyrano de Bergerac. In fact, most of the characters were real people. However, the story is almost completely ficitionalized.

Better than Shakespeare.
