--Oh Diego--dopo lungo silenzio disse Pardo all'amico--oh Diego, fra poco saremo alle mani cogli oppressori. Il tuo annuncio mi ha sollevato; ora spero!
--Non credo che Mussomeli sia ancor tenuto dai regi. Cletto stamane li ha cacciati.... e i gendarmi eran quaranta.
--E pensi abbian sloggiato? si saranno serrati nella torre.
--La quale è comandata....
--Da Orlando.... ma anche a lui non è dato scoprirsi ad una numerosa brigata di sgherri!
