Not one of Wallace's best efforts. A wealthy, unscrupulous lothario is found dead, wrapped in woman's nightgown with a bunch of daffodils on his chest. A famous detective and his Chinese assistant pursue the murderer. Signs point to a young woman who rejected the victim's advances, but the detective, who has fallen in love with her, doesn't believe it. None of the characters are realistic, and the action is slow.

An enjoyable book the combines murder and romance into a complicated plot that keeps you guessing. This is a good book that I recommend to all who enjoy murder mysteries.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. This is the first I have read written by Edgar Wallace. I will be looking for others. Definitely recommend this one.
Above average but typical British mystery yarn with many suspects and a plot with many twists and turns.

If you like Christie and Sayers you should like Wallace as well.
A complicated plot that proves to simplicity.. The story is enjoyable, though lengthy at parts. It could be a delightful time-spender.
I may be a rather unsophisticated reader but I know what I like and I enjoyed this book. Once started, I found it difficult to put down. I has moved me to try other works by this author.
