boojum’s book reviews

A good tale, with some interesting twists on an old theme. Unfortunately it was spoilt for me by very poor editing. In places I was left wondering who was talking to whom, and wrestling with odd punctuation which spoilt the narrative flow. There is a very good story in there, trying to get out. I notice that there is a sequel due out shortly - please, Ms Fletcher, get a professional editor/proofreader to look over it first!

I downloaded this book on the strength of the positive reviews, and how glad I am that I did! An excellent story of the mob vs. a few uber-geeks who can seemingly control the whole of the world's IT infrastructure. Quite a lot of techie terms, but they are well described and explained to Mike, the 'hero' who is fairly technologically illiterate. The story itself is a non-stop helter skelter of the baddies chasing the goody (Mike), and his friends who are always one step ahead of the mob. Exciting and gripping, it would make a terrific action movie - the body count is pretty high! Thoroughly recommended.

Excellently written, very good prose style and a gripping story. It carries you on at a pace and is hard to put down. I did find the oblique christian type references to the second coming of 'The King' a little irritating though, so only 4* instead of 5

I agree with the previous reviewer, the proofreading is terrible, actually nonexistant, as it's obvious that the text has gone through an OCR without revision.

As to the story, rather heavy going, although of some interest historically. However, I am having great problems with the author's style, it is very overwritten, and could benefit from some serious pruning.
