Carl Heerwagen’s book reviews

The movie versions do not do the book Justice. They never spoke of his enslavement and his plantation in Brazil. Or the fact that the ship that got shipwrecked was a slaver ship. This is a great novel for anyone to read. I recommend it to everyone.

This book is very inspirational. People may make a lot of jokes about this book but I wont. Pollyanna's "glad" game was a way to cope with depression and she went through a lot. It still has a message for us even today.

This book is great. The musical doesn't do it justice. I do have one beef with it though. Why did the author make the villain a jew. It shows some anti-semitism because of it.

I found this book very interesting. A very adult book for its time. it doesn't pull punches.

I found this book to be a boar. The ravings of a lonely, pompous man who is totally immature.

I found this satire with so much tragedy it wasn't funny. It shows a lot of hypocrisy in their society and it also reflects ours in some ways.

This book can only be read by an english major in Itish literature. I found it totally unreadable to me. I read books for plot, not for fancy literature tricks. I only recommend this if you are doing a term paper for your masters or Phd.

None of the movies do this classic any justice. Even Kenner Classic Tales from the 70s made poor on this tale. Read the book. Don't even waste any time on the movies.

Interesting Book. Good adventure with lots of politics in it. The movies do not do it justice.
