Excellent story. Twin brothers, not truly illegitimate but lost in the maze of the life of their father's second marriage. Deceit of a "banker"... trials and tribulations in the era. Very well spun characters and plotline including English "entailments" surrounding inheritances. Old old stories - but as new as today at the same time. A great read the whole way through.
Working my way through the available titles from Wilkie Collins - no way to be less than satisfied with his immaculately written stories. You don't need to even delve into the plotline (trust me) - just dive in.
Well I wish I had read the works of Wilkie Collins sooner, but now I have discovered him and am very glad. The Woman in White is just superb from start to finish and since I love 'period' books - well there you are then. A ghost, but not a ghost, love stories, plotting relatives - it is all there. Beautifully woven. Wilkie Collins is an excellent writer. My heartfelt thanks to "Many Books".
