The truth is that everyone who,s been here to review this book, were eggresious of their own personality, the words written by individual reviewers is a direct reflection of their state of mind. The bible,it is the most authentic of all literary coalescence, jutting its powerful ambience on the chronicles of man,s history.it is bounded from every other literature because it isn,t merely a work,it is the work. What more can i say, the bible communicates, enlightens and comforts. It has the words of life. Many today read it as the written word, that is why they can,t grasp it's plot or theme, blame them not, because but for those initiated whose eyes have been opened by their sincerity of asking the God of creation:my father.these have been blessed with the bible really is:LIFE.halleluia.I love Jesus.
It is amazing that those who are not wise and are blind to the truth are the ones who find a way to criticize what thay do not understand. It seems to be a way to make up for their short coming in being blind. Our time here on earth is just a vapor in the wind. Here today and gone tomorrow. But when the second coming occurs, the choices will be over and the judgement will be passed. So take the opportunity now to make the choice to know Christ and receive eternal life or an eternal living death.Make the choice while you can and read this book (God's Word) and learn to live Life instead of criticizing what you do not know. This is the most important Word That you will ever read in your short human life, and the only Word that can guide you to an eternal Spiritual Life. I pray that you will see Light instead of the darkness you are now in.
God is a super being existing in an entirely different dimension. He does not harbour human emotions like anger, revenge and he would definitely not punish people. This book portrays God as a tyrant who is out to destroy everyone who he considers against Him. This cannot be.
This book preaches violence. The old testament condones stoning people, beheading and other barbarism.
In the new teatament at least, a decent person (the only one)like Jesus stands against such barbaric practices. So one can read the new testament even with all it's impossibilities. Never read O.T which is a study in horror and uncivility.

I would like to show you something. Think off all of the stories and prophecies in the Bible. Despite heavy debate, every story in the Bible has been or is in the process of being systematically proven true by science. Considering the impossibility of some of these stories, is it not amazing that things like the separation of the Red Sea and the Great Flood have been proven fact?
Now consider the prophecies. There are thousands of prophecies regarding the Messiah. The odds of one man fulfilling even SEVEN of these prophecies is one in one hundred billion billion billion billion billion.
Before you start passing these stories off as myth or fanciful tales, please consider this. I am not asking anyone to believe, I am simply asking you to consider before passing judgement. Some of us among you live by this book, and I would ask that when debate arises we all act with respect. Each of us has an opinion, but that doesn't mean we have to be rude and disrespectful of others beliefs and views.

I hold in my heart a love for all, no matter what is said or done. Please consider what I ask and what I have shown.
this should not be treated as usual book as it isn't ,it explains the long relation between man &god with man s mistakes and god forgiveness in sometimes &punishment in other-times over ages ,and how god descended to earth in human form to bear the punishment of man kind to make Justice &in the same time to liberate and forgive human race from the original sin.it contains endless amount of historical spiritual events &examples that can be applied on our own life regardless the changes between the today life &the the life in the past, so i find it very useful to .
The story had obvious plot holes and the dialogue was often drawn out to achieve no further development of story or characters. The context of most passages in this book no longer applies to modern day society so I think it could do with being reworked at some point. Overall I found the book tedious and unenjoyable but I liked the characters of John and also Noah.
It\'s a shame that the only people leaving reviews are those bent on trying to discredit the writings of the bible. How can you read it and come to the conclusions that the the people leaving the reviews come to. It\'s simple, they didn\'t read it. The bible doesn\'t cater to someone looking for an intense fiction or some dramatic action filled non-fiction. The fact is, the bible is the most accurate account of history that we have. It isn\'t tanted by personal opinions and agendas like current history books. It tells history as it happened, good and bad. If you describe something accurately, doesn\'t mean that you condone the actions. If anything, the fact that the bible doesn\'t omit events that aren\'t popular from a historical point of but important from a spiritual point of view.

I\'m always amazed at the extent some people will go to just to convince others that their opinions are correct. Even to the point of lying. the bible isn\'t full of contraditions as some say. Just because someone says it, doesn\'t mean it\'s true. Study to show thyself approved.
worth reading because it is a book that has shaped western history and culture for since Constantine. If you have interest in mythological or archaic literature and how it affects thought and culture into the present day, the bible is a must read. If not it will be a struggle to complete. I've read the whole thing and it's decently interesting historically, not as a document of historical fact, but as an ancient piece of literature.

If you're a militant christian you'll probably defend it. If you're a militant atheist you'll probably go out of your way to spam the reviews. We get it. Let people who actually want to talk about the literature give actual reviews.
Bit of a painful read for a collection of plagiarised fairytales. Not really suitable for children as contains incest, murder, torture and concept of constant surveillance.
First half is about brutal univeral overlord who wipes out various groups, at one stage the whole population of the planet.

Second half is even more bizarre: all powerful creator for some reason creates a son who is put there to be tortured so that the creator will forgive mankind. Never quite figured out why he didn't just snap the fingers rather than torture a being (although compared to the first half where he slaughters children etc.. nice to see just one person getting tortured/killed for a change).

Would give it a miss and read something decent, something less nonsensical and less waffling.
As a piece of entertaining literature, this would fail miserably. It can be dull, dry, and sometimes quite painful to get through sometimes, and not everyone can deal with that (though one must consider this only a translation of a VERY old piece of literature- about 2000 years old!- so lieniency in this regard seems reasonable).

However, if you look to this book as a source of intellectual and spiritual stimulation, you'll be pleased. The Old Testament is basically a history of the mistakes of man and how God is continually trying to set us straight. The New Testament is an a thought provoking look at an absolutely wonderful man as he came down to Earth in order to save us from ourselves, and the response to that by civilization as a whole.

Some people may find some of the points in both parts of the Bible oddly phrased or just seemingly untrue, but if you do the research following this (in libraries as well as the internet), you'll find the statements to be 100 % true. For example: in exodus, God scorches the top of a mountain in a blaze of fire. This may seem unbelievable to some, but photos and videos of a mountain that has ACTUALLY been scorched has been recovered.

With all that being said, not everyone will likely view the Bible I do. In fact, as I am clearly biased in my thinking, many people will probably get upset with me for this post and probably post long and angry responses. And both of those are fine; I'm not here to try to change your mind about your view on religion and christianity. However, I AM asking that if you read this book, please do it with an open mind and open heart. And if you disagree with something in it, don't automatically decide it to be a lie- Do the research to prove or disprove the passage for yourself.
