Wandering in France, Puritan Solomon Kane happens across a girl whose village has been slaughtered. She identifies the bandits before she dies. Solomon, the instrument of God's vengeance, commits himself to wiping out the bandits. When the bandit leader escapes, Solomon follows him across Europe and finally to Africa.
Superior pulp writing, with great characterizations, descriptions, and plotting. Kane is as relentless as Conan, but smooth and civilized.
My first taste of Solomon Kane and definitely not my last. I've read the Conan stories but this character seems just as exciting. Headlong action and waves of atmosphere. Enjoy.
