A sort of Robinson Crusoe redivivus with modern settings and a very pretty love story added. The hero and heroine are the only survivors of a wreck, and have many thrilling adventures on their desert island.

fringed with a wide belt of brick red. She had never seen such a beginning of a gale. From what she had read in books she imagined that only in great deserts were clouds of dust generated. There could not be dust in the dense pall now rushing with giant strides across the trembling sea. Then what was it? Why was it so dark and menacing? And where was desert of stone and sand to compare with this awful expanse of water? What a small dot was this great ship on the visible surface! But the ocean itself extended away beyond there, reaching out to the infinite. The dot became a mere speck, undistinguishable beneath a celestial microscope such as the gods might condescend to use.

Iris shivered and aroused herself with a startled laugh.

A nice book in a sheltered corner, and perhaps forty winks until tea-time--surely a much more sensible proceeding than to stand there, idly conjuring up phantoms of affright.

Quite a wonderful romantic adventure. Iris Deane, the 20-year-old daughter of a millionaire baronet, is shipwrecked and marooned on a deserted island in the South China Sea, alone with Robert Jenks, the sailor who saved her life. He's handy at surviving, but he's not what he seems, and the island turns out to have more serious dangers than first appear. If you're in need of pure escapism, this has plenty of excitement and will serve well.
A rare gem! I really loved this book -- couldn't put it down. I think it would make a great movie!!
Outstanding. I don't know how I came to read an e-book by an author with whom I was unfamiliar, and with a title that sounded like a Harlequin Romance. But I was glad I came across this one. It has a little bit of everything--thrills, comic dialogue, a nicely-handled romance (for its time; it's an old-fashioned book, and I mean that as a compliment).

The book begins as a survival tale, kind of a male and female Robinson Crusoe, and develops into an action thriller. I recommend this for a good, enjoyable time-passer.
Iris and Robert the only survivors of a shipwreck find themselves on a desert island and have to adapt which is pretty easy because Robert(conveniently)knows just what to do.An okay read.
