I liked it very much overall. There was amzing historical accuracy and the plot line was far above average. The dialogue was believable. I did find the characters to be slightly larger than life, though. But, overall, I think it is worth five stars.

I almost died from laughing so hard at Diane's review. It's so true! I am a geek and I understood about 90%of the book. But unless you do computers for a living, there's no way this book would interest you. However, I loved it!! It's actually the second time I've read it...super awesome.

I read this a wile ago but, after stumbling upon it again, I remember enough to review it. In fact, the fact that I remember it so well speaks for itself. A very good book with realistic characters and a surprise at the end. Four stars.

This novel is one of the best I have read in a long time. Each character is brilliantly drawn, each suspense is actually suspenseful. The end of every climax was very satisfying. highly recommend this book. Very well executed!

One of the most morbid stories I\'ve read in a long time. A horrible ending. 90% of the book is the hypocritical sermon fluff of the monk, who is obviously off his rocker. It was just a really creepy really lousy story. It was a Hunchback of Notre Dame wanna-be. I\'m giving it one star, but it deserves negative two stars. Don\'t waste your time reading this, please.

This story is simply saturated with Anthony Hope's style. I love it. A charming gentleman, a beautiful princess, old-world courtesy and manners. It didn't really strike me as being melodramatic; the plot seemed to fit the stage like a glove. I have read Voice in the Fog by the same author and I really liked both. One thing, I am getting sick of books with the ending always being the girl accepting a man's proposal. It's sappy. In this book, the ending is the girl saying, "I am happy now." and the book ends. Other than that, the romance as fine, but I just don't like endings like that.

This novel was different from most detective stories. You witness this robbery and know who took the jewels. And the thief is a perfect gentleman and you can't help loving him. The detectivein this story was also different; he was realistic and he made mistakes. All in all, I liked this book. Five stars.

A predictable, cliched plot line. Beautufl heiress loved by three different guys, a convicted man that later turns out to be innocent. It wasn't really worth reading at all. I'd say skip it and read something more worth your time.

A fairly good book. I liked the plot; a new twist on the same old story of a love triangle. Only it was three women in love with the same man. I don't know what you call that...
Anyways, there were a few things I didn't like, starting with the witch's head. It had absolutely no place in the plot line It didn't fit in at all. It was almost as if the writer had thrown in some Gothic horrors for the sake of getting the book read. Secondly, there is a very abrupt second climax at the end that was not really thought out and was corny and pointless. It was basically a cheap drama effect. Thirdly, the book drops one of the main characters and we only hear from her on a few brief spots. It's too sudden. You go from hearing about her non-stop to not hearing from her at all.
Some of the things I did like was the freshness of the plot. Also, the characters were all realistic and true-to-life, which is something you sometimes don't see in a romance. Overall, I really liked it and am going to check out other books by the author.

I find it amusing that in the last review by Walter he acts as if only a few were hating his book, while every single review on the book (besides his \"modest\" three stars) are extremely negative. Just another example of the drivel that is pumped out into the world these days.
