This is pure pulp!! I think it was written as a serial in a magazine. Some parts the chapter beginnings seem disjointed. However, this is still a fun summer read.

The book is anti drug and anti city life. The way to go is to live a clean life on a cattle ranch. Riding horses is the ultimate diversion. Forget the heroine or morphine! Even drinking whisky is frowned upon. Here the good guy is so good while the bad Mexicans and whisky runners are deplorable.

The book even ends with a twist ending!

Not a literary achievement but a fun read that has the word "sensational" written all over it!
