The Sphere of Ingar has been destroyed and pure magic now flows freely throughout the land of Uton. Magic casters arise, as do the dark creatures that need magic to exist in this realm. The dwarf queen, Yave, declares war on the algors, blaming the desert dwellers for the tragedy which took the life of her eldest son. Ryson Acumen, the pure bred delver who saved the land from Ingar's sphere, attempts to intervene. Humans and elves are drawn into the war just as Uton fractures into chaos.

nt of solace. If you truly wish to relinquish the throne, wait until the time is proper. First you must quell the fears of our people, you must bring calm back to Dunop. Then, and only then, will it be advisable for us to search for a successor outside the Folarok name. But for now, I see but two choices for you - accept your fate, or leave Dunop as your father has left, with his back turned upon his people."

The space which Hern allowed now isolated the prince. Jon felt as if a moat now surrounded him. His shoulders went limp. He spoke, not with resolve, but with grudging acceptance. "It shall be as you say. I will take the throne."

Hern, though grateful for these words, spoke now with a soft and unchallenging voice, a proper tone for a subordinate addressing a king. "Dunop thanks you, and I thank you."

"I need your help, not your thanks," Jon

In this second book of the saga, the author examines some of the upheaval and chaos that the return of magic to Uton has caused. Once again from the word go, his easy writing style makes the story accessible and highly readable. There are a few places where he seems to conclude the action a bit too soon to my view (for example, I would have liked it if we had seen more of the magic users effects on the Lacobian Desert). Having said that, if you're looking for a pleasant, easy read to top up your fantasy-loving quota, this is definitely worth your time.
