Okay, I am going to be honest with you. I love Chesterton. I really do.

But this one was a little bit beyond my level. I felt like I was blundering through a white fog, knowing that there was symbolic images but not understanding the meaning behind it. The plot itself was obviously a stage for the metaphysical symbolisms.

There are much better men than I to give reviews and critiques of the book, so I will merely say that, if, like me, you have a hard time understanding hidden meanings and symbolism, then this book is not for you.

I am not sure what rating to give this book, so I will leave it at the default three.

The Lenton Croft Robberies: Not the best on the list. It was solved far too quickly to be believable.

The Loss of Sammy Crockett: Much better. Martin Hewitt solves this one based on piecing together a torn note and clandestinely obtaining a sample of the suspect's handwriting.

The Case of Mr. Foggatt: This one was very good. Hewitt daringly takes damning evidence away right under the suspect's nose.

The Case of the Dixon Torpedo: The best on the list. Secret plans are stolen and the hiding place is very clever on the part of the criminals.

The Quinton Jewel Affair Also a good one. Probably the third best on the list.

The Stanway Cameo Mystery A quick story, but with a very surprising twist towards the end.

The Affair of the Tortoise I did not like this one, due to its insulting theme. In addition to that, the plot itself was very weak.

Also this already has a lot of reviews, I am going to add my two cents. This was an amazing book. Filled with intrigue, beautiful woman and master swordsman...what more could you ask? Oh, yes, a masked man...gotta have one of those. Equal in quality to The Scarlet Pimpernel or The Brown Mask...I enjoyed the book very much!

Every single one of these stories was stellar. Great plots, amazing characters, pithy lines. Lupin is my new hero (I know, I know, he's a burglar...). I read every single book about Lupin that Manybooks had. And if that doesn't speak for itself, I don't know what does. Definitely deserves five stars!

A fine enough book. The characters were all surprisingly shallow, except for one man, Henry Veath. Fantastical parts of the book, such as being stranded on an island with the cannibal king PooToo. This was my first book by the author and I don\'t know if I\'ll be trying more...

Melodramatic, but interesting.

I would have loved to read this book, but the formatting was huge italics and unbearable.

Seriously! This book was so pathetic! I am going to blow the plot so don't read any further. Throughout the whole book you are investigating the murder of James Deane. Then 75% of the way there the author makes the murdered man actually a cousin with the same name! How contrived is that!! It was so fake and contrived!

Jeepers Creepers! The name itself is so melodramatic: "The Baronet's Bride or a Woman's Vengeance". Seriously, guys? Haha, I can't believe people read this seriously. :D

I agree with Carl, this book shouldn't be made fun of. It's infectious, I started playing the glad game after I read it. It's all about having a good attitude and seeing the glass half full. What's wrong with that??
